My Personal Definition of Poverty

Poverty to me is a meager means of support to one's self , I believe you can be happy and live on very little depending on your living conditions.   Someone may live in an urban area and lose their home and all their belongings and everything else they have and no family or anybody else to help them and become displaced in their environment.   A homeless shelter, food assistance and other programs similar to assisting those who fall into this path, until they are able to pick their self back up again.   Some are unable to pick their self back up due to many obstacles that may preclude them from doing so, such as becoming seriously ill, handicapped or just lose the will power to continue living.   Some may even commit suicide because of the pressures that have taken over their lives and the options that they have become very limited.

The governments restraints on the habitability of assisting those that are categorized as poverty are very limited as to what they are able to do, to assist these families.   The financial restraints that succumb to a population that is classified as poor (poverty) are penalized more than the population at large and are still confined to pay the same bills, fines, rents etc., and if they are unable to make good on these payments they are penalized like everybody else, even if they are unable to pay and end up without again.

Again their are those of us that reside in rural areas and live without many of the luxuries that those in an urban setting may have and only have enough to eat or clothes that they make them selves and will not accept charity in any form, these people live in poverty and are a proud hardworking people and have learned to do without.

Poverty to me means when you are born into this world and have no food on the table or a place to lay your head at night and have never experienced what a full life can be for someone.   I am not talking about a utopian dream, but to be able to experience living in a place where there are 3 meals a day and a place to lay your head at night and give thanks for what you have.
